Full Day Excursion of Nairobi National Park with David Sheldrick and African Heritage House
Check in early in early in the morning into the only wildlife park in the capital of a country, Nairobi National Park! It boasts as a thoroughly rewarding game drive and safari. The park has the big four of Lion, Rhino, Leopard and Buffalo alongside Wildbeest, Africa’s biggest antelope; the Eland, majestic Giraffes, Hippos, Crocodiles, Ostriches, Warthogs, Hyenas, Cheetahs, Baboons, Impala, Topi, Zebra, DikDik and Hartebeest.
A stop over at the Ivory burning site gives you a glimpse into the ever continuing battle between conservation and poaching and the triumphs that have been recorded so far.
Several picnic sites exist in the park that allows to get a health break, grab a snack or picnic meal, host a cocktail in the wild or enjoy the beauty of mother nature.
Check out in the mid-morning and proceed to David Sheldrick Elephant Trust, you get to get really up close to the baby Elephants under the care of the trust, and appreciate the work they do in saving the lives of the orphaned or abandoned baby Elephants.
We then proceed to The African Heritage House about twenty-five minutes from the David Sheldrick Elephant Trust. This is like going through traditional Africa and especially African huts and arts from one stop. Having been a co-founder of the African Heritage Gallery together with Kenya’s second vice president, the owner, American Alan Donovan is both unreserved in his collection of African art as well as varied. Everything from jewelry, musical instruments, home appliances, decorative pieces as well as fabric is to be found here.
The house itself combines several models of huts from all over Africa. A restaurant within the house offers breakfast, lunch and dinner and is delightfully prepared and presented. The fact that you can enjoy your meals as you enjoy the views of Nairobi National Park from the facility adds that extra magic to the whole experience.
After this you are dropped at your hotel/home.
