Ruka Tu: Bungee Jump and White Water Rafting
For the adrenalin junkies and the outdoor enthusiasts
Day 1: We leave for Nairobi early in the morning to Savage Wilderness Camp. On arrival we get a briefing from the instructors, gear up, acquaint with our safety gear, the inflatable raft and our team mates before we head out to exploring the Tana River.
Altogether you will raft 8-16 kms depending on the prevailing water levels. Featuring Class II – V white waters, you will have a thrilling challenge navigating the calm water sections as well as the rapids, all with varying degrees of ease and difficulty.
Captains Folly, Can of Worms ( four, successive 90 degree bends) and Sphincter Flexor, “surf” in the “fish-eye” hole, swim in the next couple of minor rapids, numerouss smaller rapids, class V Spasm and a series of drops are all yours to conquer, and with the experienced guides in command of the raft, you are getting instructions from season and passionate captains. The last 15 mins that bring you safely back to camp are gentle and relaxing.
In the evening, its all fun and games as we relive the days events.
Day 2
Where are the jumpers? This morning could get you from your tent, bunker bed or your breakfast table. Its is your call to soar and drop to a calming stop.
Your slow but sure ascent to your determining 60M high cage is your rise to glory, literally. Once in the cage, you are geared up with the Bungee cord and safety harness. Your instructor then briefs you in what is expected. The rest is your chance to prove or test your nettle as you approach the edge of the cage ready to do your free fall. The following several seconds are nothing exhilarating. Your bungee bounces come to a peaceful stall before you are lowered to your evacuation boat and you enjoy the short rafting on Tana River and are taken back to land! What an experience. We then enjoy some swimming moments before lunch. Our journey back to Nairobi gets us back in the late afternoon.
