Longonot With Hell’s Gate National Park
Perfect for the actively inclined and appreciate the outdoor playground.
This the duo challenge of moderate hikes that takes you through the Volcanic Cadera at Longonot National Park and the gorgeous Gorges of the Hell’s Gate National Park.
Leaving Nairobi early in the morning, we drive straight on to Longonot through the Great Rift Valley escarpment so as to be in good time for an early morning start to the hike up Mt. Longonot. Walking on through the shrub land with a guide, by the first water break stop, the plains below are starting to flaunt their welcoming expanse. We get on to hike to the rim of the Longonot Crater, a moderate 40 mins or so hike. The views from this elevation are nothing but rewarding, the contoured valleys below charming you and calling you to keep the exploration around the rim. The Lakes of the Rift Valley catch your eye further to the west as you go around the rim, before beginning your hike down to the base of the mountain.
We gather and drive to Hell’s Gate National Park, where you have a chance to bike, rock climb or explore the imposing yet scenic gorge. You are not lost if for whatever reason you need a more relaxed Hell’s Gate experience as there everything to feast your eyes on, from the cliffs standing several storeys high to the wildlife that adorn this park or the various rock outcrops that are spread along your path, right on the main course. Besides, we finish it off with a rewarding dip in the naturally heated spa pool in the Park.
